you're so pretty, you're so asian / kiss me baby, i'm caucasian

+ Yesterday Jeff pointed out that I really need to be listening to the Steinways, and brother, was he right! I never get impressed listening to pop punk bands, but this one is just too fun and catchy to not like. Plus they sing upbeat catchy songs about being jilted and rejected by girls, which is always relatable. They remind me a lot of Chixdiggit, too. It's like they looiked into my life and made a record (except the parts about smoking the doob). You should go to their record label site and buy it, or listen to clips on their MySpace page. I think Mitch Clem did the artwork, and I've been reading a lot of his strips thanks to Kim/K-Ballz at work (my company's other resident late-90's zinemaker and punk show goer).
+ I watched the first half of "Seven Samurai" yesterday, and it's brilliant. There was one scene that mixed regular footage with slow motion that I particularly enjoyed.
+ I discovered a new Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant yesterday called ABC. It's totally Chungking Express style, only bigger and with Chinese food. But I saw people ordering Western food, and they made toast on that weird asian bread. I had some chicken thing with rice, and it was served with this really good soup with buckwheat in it. Unfortunately, there were no Faye Wong's there dancing to "California Dreamin'".
